If there’s one thing everyone loves about the holidays, it’s the delicious seasonal food and drinks that we associate with it. Not only are the holidays the perfect excuse to indulge in sweets, boozy bevvies and mouth-watering dishes, but all these treats give us a reason to get together and share special moments together — whether you share your goodies or not is entirely up to you.
Splurge on a fancy treat

There’s nothing better than a cup of tea to warm your insides and some finger food to fill your belly, except maybe a Christmassy version of it! Treat yourself and your loved ones to a whimsical Christmas High Tea.
W Brisbane is bringing back their Festive High Tea in the lovely Living Room Bar. Every Friday to Sunday until December 28 you’ll be able to tuck into some delectable Christmas-inspired bites such as a rich dark chocolate yule log with meringue mushrooms, and the classic flavours of roast turkey and cranberry wrapped in a fluffy profiterole, but watch out for their mischievous Elf, who will be “sabotaging” one table per day!
Eat with your eyes at this elegant patisserie

Iconic French patisserie Belle Époque has unveiled its Christmas Sweet Cabinet, featuring handcrafted creations available for takeaway or to enjoy in-house, including a whimsical blueberry vanilla cheesecake snowman, Santa’s white chocolate mousse and matcha sponge belt, and more traditional classics like black forest gateau!
Savour the sweetness of the season

For a limited time, Subway’s seasonal salted caramel cookie will be topping Santa’s nice list: it’s a buttery treat with generous chunks of soft, chewy caramel with a salted twist.
This melt-in-your-mouth treat is the perfect balance of chewy centre and crisp edges, with each bite delivering a perfectly balanced mix of sweet and salty. And, on December 4, to celebrate World Cookie Day, every Subway in Australia and NZ will be giving away collector’s item cookie tins to those who buy 3 x 6 packs of cookies or more!
Indulge in a flaky treat
Widely considered some of the best in the world, Lune Croissanterie’s croissants are getting a festive makeover. Though the December menu has not been unveiled yet, if last year’s is anything to go by — with classic seasonal flavours like chocolate peppermint and gingerbread — you won’t want to miss any of their flaky, buttery goodies.

Browse for a local treat

From now until Christmas, there is no shortage of Christmas markets popping up all over Brisbane, so while you’re selflessly getting pressies for all your loved ones, why not treat yourself to local, seasonal goodies?
On December 6, head to the Nundah Christmas Twilight Market for everything from festively decorated cupcakes and macarons to boozy drinks. It truly is the most wine-derful time of the year!
Get your hands dirty with a DIY treat
Have your gingerbread house and eat it too, with this decorating workshop! Held in the Sunshine Coast, it’ll be well worth the trip, as you will learn icing and decorating techniques, recipes to make your own gingerbread and icing at home, and even a hot drink to dunk your beautifully decorated roof in!

Be spoilt for choice with these doughnuts

Krispy Kreme’s Merry and Bright collection has come to add sweetness to the holidays, with a Christmas tree that has a crunchy wafer trunk, a Santa Belle filled with choc, an adorable reindeer dipped in caramel with pretzels for ears, and a Christmas cookie crumb donut filled with spiced custard. Sign us up for one of each!
Take your time with a full-day treat
If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, make a whole day of it with a visit to Granite Belt Christmas Farm! You can pick up a Christmas tree at their farm, and that is just the beginning. Browse their shop for ornaments, pet and feed their animals and, of course, get a sweet treat from Mrs Claus’ Kitchen. Indulge in a creamy milkshake or their luxurious Christmas Eve hot cocoa, which is like a hug in a mug. Plus, you get to keep the mug!
