A landmark moment for Brissy’s already iconic bar scene is on the horizon, as the globally acclaimed cocktail institution Death & Co is set to make its highly anticipated international debut this summer, in none other than the Regatta Hotel!
The venue was chosen because Brisbane’s Death & Co will be operated in partnership by veteran pub and bar managers Australian Venue Co, who helm The Regatta. Having closed the Walrus Club recently, the venue is now being refitted to match Death & Co’s US counterparts, with their chic décor and welcoming ambiance. The Aussie staff has also been training in the US so they can deliver the same high-quality experience and, of course, renowned cocktails.
Founded in New York City in 2006 and later expanding to LA, Denver and Washington D.C., Death & Co was instrumental in shaping the modern craft cocktail movement. Its influence has been profound — you can thank them for many of the inventive cocktails you may have tried in the past decade or so — reviving interest in the artistry of classic cocktails while pushing the boundaries of innovation for a new generation of drinkers.
From perfected classics to must-try Death & Co creations like the Naked & Famous (Del Maguey Vida mezcal, Chartreuse, Aperol, lime) and the Oaxacan Old Fashioned (El Jimador Reposado, Del Maguey Vida mezcal, agave syrup, Angostura bitters) and new, locally-inspired additions to the menu, you will be spoilt for choice. The bar will also serve wine, beer and food, although the menu for the latter is TBA.
Also pending is the venue’s exact opening date. From what we hear, it will most likely be late November or December, so maybe it’ll be the place to have a festive tipple this year, but we will keep you updated once we know more. You can also subscribe for news on their brand new website.
