Get ready Brisbanites, because soon you’ll have more options to visit La La Land thanks to a new service American Airlines is inaugurating beginning December 5, 2025. The new route, connecting Los Angeles (LAX) to Brisbane (BNE), will be nonstop and comes alongside the resumption of its Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Brisbane service back in October, further connecting the River City and North America.
This expansion represents a significant leap in tourism, of course, but it’s also looking to boost transpacific business travel. Queensland tourism authorities have been looking to develop more long-haul connections like these, and AA’s launch of LAX–BNE is one example of the efforts.
Both leisure and business travellers benefit from having more options —especially nonstop ones — because they lead to more scheduling flexibility, more connections, and reduced layover times. More capacity also tends to help stabilize fares during high-demand periods, so hopefully more Brisbanites will get a chance to visit Tinseltown without breaking the bank.
This new service will come just in time for the December holiday rush, which has always been one of the busiest travel seasons between the U.S. and Australia, driven by family reunions, leisure travel, and summer holidays. In fact through January 2026, AA and Qantas will offer up to seven weekly flights between LAX and BNE, ensuring daily service during these peak months.
Customers flying on either carrier can enjoy reciprocal loyalty benefits like premium check-in, extra baggage allowance, and lounge access through their respective loyalty programs. Tickets for this new LAX–BNE route go on sale on May 12, so keep your eyes peeled for that early Christmas present!
