Everything old is new again! One of Queensland’s oldest licensed pubs, the iconic Grand View Hotel just reopened its doors, to the tune of a multi-million dollar renovation that signifies a new era of hospitality for Brisbanites and visitors alike.
Throughout the reno, the focus was always to preserve the Cleveland pub’s 174-year history, while incorporating modern features that would bring it into the present and ensure its future.
With its stunning North Stradbroke Island views, the new GV still has everything that’s made it a local favourite for over a hundred years, while upgrading its spaces and capacity — it boasts a much larger event space — and introducing state-of-the-art kitchens and bars, with Australia’s largest rotisserie oven and a top-of-the-line pizza oven.
The pub now has a custom-built function marquee for up to 120 seated guests, an upper dining terrace and a pet-friendly lawn, so even our four-legged friends can enjoy an evening out! When it comes to drinks, they’ve got double the taps, new beer lines and an outdoor bar, so your hand need never be without a cold one!

History buffs have nothing to worry about: the heritage-listed hallway and Cleveland Room remain untouched, retaining their original character, alongside a recovered historic well, featured in an 1855 advertisement for Cleveland House, that became the centrepiece of the renovation, reconnecting the new and improved GV to its 19th century roots.
As Kickon Group CEO & Founder Craig Shearer put it, “The transformation is not just a facelift, it’s a safeguard for one of Queensland’s most historic venues, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of the community and a place where new memories continue to be made.
“The Grand View isn’t just a pub — it’s a part of Queensland’s story, and we’re proud to keep that story alive for generations to come. Discovering the 1855 well reminded us of the GV’s deep history, and now we’ve created a venue that honours that past while offering something truly exciting for the future.”
Its new pavilion and beer garden will be offering up something for everyone, gastronomically speaking, from charcoal-grilled steaks and rotisserie meats, to authentic wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood and other elevated pub classics, as well as a kids and a seniors menu.
As for entertainment, they have got that covered as well! Watch live sports on the large outdoor screen, place some bets or try your hand at Keno in the gaming room, or enjoy live music from Thursday to Sunday! And, because GV is offering a true community experience, it even has a kids play area, to keep the whole family happy.
