The answer to the question, “Is it cake?” will be a resounding and delicious yes at the International Cake Show Australia, which is returning to Brisbane this winter for three massive days of cake displays, masterclasses, live cake making, entertainment, and plenty of opportunities for a sugar rush.
The world’s best cake sculptors are heading to Brisbane for the occasion, alongside professional pastry chefs, bakers, chocolatiers, home hobbyist decorators, and food personalities.
What to expect
Highlights you can expect to see at this super sweet extravaganza include the Iconic Cake Art Australian Cake, Cookie & Sugarcraft Competition, which is exactly what it sounds like: a thrilling competition where the world’s best cake artists, of every experience level, battle it out in front of the audience. Think “Cake Boss” but on a much larger scale!
Another unmissable feature are the jaw-dropping “sugar giants”, cake sculptures of up to a whopping 6m x 6m of beloved characters such as fairies and a smashing 2.5-metre Hulk!
The International Cake Show is also home to hands-on workshops, masterclasses and mini classes to suit every skill level, Australia’s largest cookie decorating competition, pop-up shops to pick up sweet treats from, and more.
If you’re not one to get their hands dirty though, there is still plenty for you to do, with a shopping zone, three stunning stages, and haute couture marquee, themed global sugar art features, and a café to chill at once the sugar rush has worn off.

This year’s International Cake Show will take place from Friday, July 31 to Sunday August 2, from 10am to 4pm.
