Calling all sweet tooths, The International Cake Show Australia is returning to Brisbane this April for three massive days of cake displays, masterclasses, live cake making, entertainment, and plenty of opportunities for a sugar rush.
This year’s edition of the show is set to be held at the Royal International Convention Centre in Bowen Hills from Friday, April 14 to Sunday, April 16.
The world’s best cake sculptors are heading to Brisbane for the occasion, alongside professional pastry chefs, bakers, chocolatiers, home hobbyist decorators, and food personalities such as Karen Portaleo and Rosie Dummer, who will both be flying overseas for the show.
Highlights we can expect to see at this super sweet extravaganza include The Battle Of The Sweet Giants, a massive sugar cake installation featuring a life-size BumbleBee Transformer, complete with moving chassis, light and sound, as well as a three-metre Lion King sugar sculpture.
The show aims to build the world’s largest cookie tower, which you can help create by decorating your very own gingerbread house and adding it to the tower.
Also among the masterclasses on offer are 1 Hour Make & Take Mini Class, where you can master the art of buttercream cupcakes or giant cookies.
Be sure to watch the International 2-Day Cake-Off Challenge while you’re around, where six cake sculpting superstars battle it out on the Friday and Saturday for a world cake title.
There will also be plenty of vendors on-site you can pick up sweet treats from.
International Cake Show Australia CEO, Joan McDermott says the show is all about, “creating magic, defying possibilities and breaking boundaries,” and goes on to add, “For the millions who watch Cake Boss and follow the hundreds of thousands of edible artists on social media, this event is the penultimate experience, and to have it staged here in Brisbane as the national showpiece is certainly a coup for the city.”
