You know those aesthetic Insta pics you see of people wandering gracefully through vibrant sunflower fields? Well, that could be you this May. Kalbar Sunflower Festival is set for another lap around the sun(flowers), which means you’ll be able to get up close to these bright beauties.
Kalbar Sunflower Festival is held in the Scenic Rim, about an hour and fifteen-minute drive southwest of Brisbane. The sixteen-acre sunflower field will be in full bloom with over a million sunflowers, ready for all the camera snaps you can imagine.
In 2025, the festival will run over three big days from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 4.
Over the weekend, you’ll get to experience some exciting things such as a walk-through sunflower maze, as well as a sensory garden, and mini photo shoots. And that’s not all, you’ll also enjoy market stalls, live entertainment, and an array of themed activities, such as a yoga session among the flowers, an art class or even a helicopter flight, plus meaningful projects like a sunflower memorial and a community mural. Best of all, the proceeds from several activities will go to different charities, ensuring the sunshine will reach every corner of the community.
Not to mention long lunches in the sunflower field each day — bought separately — with a delicious local produce menu.
Kids are set to have a whole lot of fun at the 2025 festival, with creative craft activities, as well as face painting and tattoos — sunflower ones, of course. And, for the first time ever, an animal petting farm so the little ones can get an extra fix of nature!
Tickets will go on sale at the end of March, and since the festival has sold out in less than twenty-four hours in previous years, you’ll want to keep an eye out.
Van Gogh and grab yours here.
Please note: Kalbar Sunflowers is only open for the three days of the festival. There is no admittance to the farm outside of these dates.
