When it comes to authentic Japanese souffle pancakes, Kumokumo is where it’s at. But up until now, we would’ve had to travel all the way to Perth to try their fluffy and seriously Instagrammable creations. Luckily for us, Kumokumo is coming to Brisbane this month, setting up shop in South Bank for ten weeks.
Open from Wednesday ’til Sunday from November 23 – January 29, this pancake pop-up will have you biting into signature souffle pancake varieties such as Black Sugar Boba, creme brulee, Biscoffee, a honey and butter number, as well as the Uji Matcha, which is topped with matcha cream and a red bean paste. Our mouths are watering just thinking about them all, to be honest.
You can also expect to see weekly specials hit the menu. Think tiramisu with Kahlua, Baileys cookies and cream, as well as pandan coconut.
There’s an art to fluffy souffle pancakes, one of which involves separating egg yolks and egg whites, beating the egg whites into a fluffy meringue, and folding an egg yolk mix into the meringue.
It sure sounds like a process, and sometimes, it’s better to leave it up to the experts. In this case, experts being Kumokumo.
A selection of specialty drinks will also be available, including Hojicha Tea with cream foam, Lychee Lemonade, Black Tea Lemonade, and Tiger Boba.
