Late last year, Costa’s Seafood Café in Capalaba was voted as having the best fish N chips in Australia. And a very well-deserved award at that: their fish N chips are delicious! Now, Brisbane has another “Australia’s best” to add to its collection. Millennials, start planning your brunch dates because Little Hideout Café in Balmoral has been named Best Avo Toast in Australia.
Yes, it’s a bold claim to say that something is the best in the country, but Avocados Australia have made their decision. And they’re the industry body representing Australian avocados, so look, they probably know what they’re talking about.
Little Hideout Cafe’s winning dish incorporates the classic avocado and sourdough combo, which is then complemented with roast tomato aioli, whipped feta, beetroot hommus, slices of radish, and homemade dukkah to finish.
This avo toast might set you back $16.90, but hey, it might be the best you ever have. So we say go for it — treat yourself.
The competition to find Australia’s best avo toast was judged on the qualities of the avocados used on the plate. A few interstate eateries that made the runner-up lists include Barbetta Cucina in Paddington, NSW as well as Faraday’s Cage in Fitzroy, VIC, and The Banksia Tree in Port Adelaide, SA.
Little Hideout Café source their avocadoes from Simpson Farms in Goodwood, Queensland.
