The Gold Coast’s Cbus Super Stadium will see 12,000-pound (about 5,400kg) Monster trucks tear up the dirt and defy the laws of physics in their high-flying and jaw-dropping stunts, as their daring drivers compete for a shot at the Event Championship.
The competition is divided into three categories: Racing, Skills and fan-favourite Freestyle, with attendees scoring the drivers in real time — based on their skills, stunts, and saves — helping to crown the Event Champion.
This year is more exciting than ever, with never-before-seen trucks making their Aussie debut: Sparkle Smash, a six-tonne unicorn with a bold attitude and colourful charisma, and JCB DIGatron, designed in conjunction with JCB’s engineering team and inspired by JCB’s iconic construction equipment.
They will also be joined by beloved trucks such as Son-uva Digger — returning for the first time in nine years — Megalodon, El Toro Loco, Grave Digger, and four Marvel Monster Jam trucks that’ll leave the young ones open-mouthed: The Amazing Spider-Man, Black Panther, Thor, and Iron Man.
If you love a bit of drama — and giant trucks battling it out doesn’t quite scratch that itch — this year is all about the sibling rivalry, as five-time Monster Jam World Finals champion Adam Anderson, driving Grave Digger, takes on his four-time Monster Jam World Finals champion brother Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger.
About Monster Truck Jam
Dating back to 1992, the Monster Truck Jam final was held in Las Vegas from 2000 to 2018, when it started rotating venues annually. The competition aims to find and crown the best of the best in each of the championship categories.
The simple fact of driving the trucks is a feat in itself, as each Monster Jam truck weighs over 5,000 kilos and their engines generate 1,500 horsepower, thanks to a supercharger that forces air and fuel into the engine.
Due to the vehicles’ sheer power, the driver’s compartment is a steel safety structure, built from tubing and mounted to the truck frame, and the truck bodies are custom-built and constructed of fiberglass. Each one is transported in specially prepared trailers, which are big enough to transport as many as two trucks!
Monster Jam Pit Party
If you want to get up-close-and-personal and get to meet idols of the sport — both drivers and trucks — the Monster Jam Pit Party is the place to be! You can snap selfies with the trucks, meet your favourite drivers and collect their autographs, and participate in other family-friendly activities and giveaways.
