Pastry and coffee lovers get ready to become loyal subjects to Queen Amann Bakery, opening its doors on Thursday, 26 June, bringing signature kouign-amann pastries and authentic French flair to the bustling Bowen Hills precinct.
In case you need a refresher, a kouign-amman is a sweet, round laminated dough pastry, containing layers of butter and incorporated sugar, making it the perfect balance of sweet and flaky and, as you have probably gathered, it is Queen Amann’s specialty.

But that’s not the only realm they rule. From the pastry geniuses behind NYC Bagel Deli, Cordelia Sourdough Backhouse, and Superthing Bakery, you know you’re in good hands in your time of knead. The bakery will also be serving perfectly crusty sourdough, handcrafted focaccia, loaded sandwiches and plenty more tempting pastry goodness. Drinks also get the royal treatment at Queen Amman, with fresh juices and expertly brewed gourmet coffee completing their mouth-watering menu.
If you’re salivating already, we have great news! From Thursday 26 June to Sunday 29 June, the first 50 customers daily will score a free kouign-amann with any drink purchase — because nothing says “welcome to the neighbourhood” quite like a free pastry.
Queen Amann Bakery will be holding audience with its subjects — aka open for business — seven days a week, ready to satisfy their every sweet and caffeinated craving.
