It’s not every day you attend a music festival on the beach and, at said festival, participate in an interactive life-size obstacle course akin to an arcade game. Gold Coast music and art festival SPRINGTIME isn’t like other events of its kind, though, and its massive 2023 program is a reminder of this.
Returning to Surfers Paradise from September 1 – 3, SPRINGTIME is the perfect way to get your art and music fix without breaking the bank on a ticket.
Headlining the music list this year is an electronic DJ set from Bag Raiders, as well as live performances from BENEE and Matt Corby.
Joining them will be Australian artists you might’ve heard on Triple J, such as Boo Seeka, Sycco, Eliza & The Delusionals, and more.
While the music lineup is already sensational, the art program is what has us most interested to head down to the Goldy for SPRINGTIME this year.
Commissioned for the festival is Quest of Chaos, a new participatory performance installation that is both giant obstacle course and retro art installation.
The installation draws influences from Japanese game shows, retro video games and animated series, taking participants through a series of obstacle course challenges as their physical and mental skills are tested.
While you’re checking out the art around the festival, be sure to check out the beachside flora and fauna-inspired paintings from twin sister duo Malara Rise as well as the candy-coloured art of renowned Korean-Australian artist YEAHYEAHCHLOE.
