When it comes to a beachside escape from Brisbane, a hot favourite is heading south just a couple of hours to the idyllic Byron Bay. When summer comes rolling in and we want to be as close to the coast as possible, luxury resort Crystalbrook Byron becomes an ample mix of forest and sea. A spot to relax and reflect, all the while beating the crowds.
Crystalbrook Byron gives you the chance to be still, let go, eat quality local ingredients, and enjoy a reset in nature. The resort is located just outside of town, close to Broken Head, with a restaurant, bar, gym, and wellness activities all on-site.
Sipping cocktails in a cabana by the pool? Yep, that’s absolutely on the cards too.
Accommodation
A stay in the Treetop Suites makes you feel like you’re in a literal treehouse, at level with the branches. Both enclosed verandas boast lush views of the rainforest, which can be enjoyed from the comfort of a daybed.
We found ourselves having multiple soaks in the room’s bathtub during our two-night stay, because well, it was hard not to, especially after a trip to the beach or pool.
Another plus about the Treetop Suites is that they are the closest suites to the beach, which is just a short walk away.
Crystalbrook also provide yoga mats in case you want to have a session on the veranda. Yoga with a view – you can’t go wrong.
Wellness Activities
We found that Crystalbrook Byron is far more than just a luxury resort in a prime destination. It also encourages wellness through yoga sessions and healing ceremonies.
In addition to attending the morning yoga sessions at the resort, we recommend booking a stay during a full moon so you can experience the monthly ‘Bliss with Crystalbrook Byron’ full moon ceremony, hosted by Erin Rose, the Light Witch. Here, amongst the trees, you’ll be immersed in a sound healing, meditation, chakra cleansing and oracle card guidance, reflecting on your challenges and letting them go.
Food & Drink
Dining at the resort’s restaurant Forest is a must during a stay at Crystalbrook Byron, with a menu full of gourmet locally-inspired dishes and drinks. The restaurant, led by Head Chef Jordan Staniford, takes sustainability seriously, sourcing 80% of their ingredients within a three-hour radius of the restaurant.
Are you someone who can’t choose because there’s so much good food on a menu? Because same. That’s when the Taste of Forest five-course dinner comes in handy.
