The Time Travel Café has popped up at Mr Badgers Bar and Restaurant in Brisbane where would-be time travellers can uncover secrets, play games and have conversations with historical characters. And, its run of shows has been extended for another week.
The interactive and immersive experience folds five hours of theatre into one incredible journey that is wild and surreal. It’s a trip to a fantastical 1920s Parisian salon, reminiscent of A Midnight In Paris with a touch of the time-traveling absurdity of Doctor Who. And, you could visit time and time again without experiencing it all.
Tickets for this fantastical trip through the ages from $45.
The Time Travel Café
Brought to us by SpaceFold Technology, an immersive performance collective and creatives James Elliott and Kristian Santic, you will tumble down the rabbit hole into a world not bound by normal rules. From meeting The Doctor, coming face-to-face with The Queen from a bygone era, hearing Hemingway get into a scrap and being beckoned by Joan d’Arc as well as seeing The Madam get hot under the collar, it’s a whirlwind adventure unlike any other.
Guests will be invited to converse with historical figures, connect with ideas, question realities and explore the void in this 60-minute open-ended theatrical production that begins with a cocktail and ends wherever you take it. If you prefer to keep to yourself and observe the absurdity around you, you can do that. If you want to get in on the performance, you can do that too because The Time Travel Café is whatever you make it.
If you haven’t yet stepped into the void, you’re in for one wild trip. And if you’re getting ready for another round, where will you end up on this trip into the unknown? What questions will you ask and what answers will you give? Where will the performance take you?
The Time Travel Café at Mr Badgers Bar and Restaurant transports you back through the ages and into the lives of historical figures on various Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
