Since it got its start in 2020, Wynnum Fringe has become a cornerstone of Queensland’s cultural calendar. Under the Augathella Spiegeltent on Wynnum’s Bay Terrace, and with purpose-built venues, immersive street activations, dazzling lighting, food trucks, and a mix of ticketed and free events, Wynnum Fringe is sure to captivate audiences in its first winter edition.
What to expect
This year, festival-goers of all ages can enjoy 18 days of unmissable entertainment to the heart of the bayside. This year’s Fringe is bringing everything from crowd-drawing performers like Arj Barker and Mel Buttle to innovative takes on circus acts and burlesque, and even a clowning workshop, and a gin tasting experience.!
Possibly the biggest highlight, Highway To Hell: The Rock ‘N’ Roll Circus is a full-throttle live music and circus spectacular starring powerhouse performers Wes Carr and Mahalia Barnes, backed by an all-star band playing Australian rock anthems from some of your 80s favourites.
Featuring performances from world-class circus artists, expect aerial guitar, fire, hair-hang and jaw-dropping physical performance woven through a soundtrack fuelled by Aussie rock ‘n’ roll!
Other family-friendly events include The Greatest Magic Show, the multi-award-winning fast-paced show packed with tricks, giggles, and gasp-worthy moments, in which every child receives a free magic wand on entry.
Circus — The Show is another spectacle not to be missed, a modern circus spectacular where imagination knows no bounds that blends acrobatics, illusions, juggling, aerial artistry, and side-splitting comedy into one magical hour.
There’s also plenty of after-hours programming, like a sizzling adults-only magic show, raunchy cabaret shows, a pop-up wine experience, and more!
Practical information
This year’s Wynnum Fringe will take place from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, July 12.
