If you’re a foodie who loves to try new cuisines, why not get a taste of Indonesia on your next dish date? Tucked away in Indooroopilly, this new Indonesian restaurant serves up authentic cuisine which packs a flavour punch. Betawi first opened in Dubai back in 2007, and since then, it’s gone on to receive multiple awards including ‘Best Budget Restaurant’ and ‘Best South East and Pan Asian Restaurant’.
Betawi founder, Isti, has now brought her traditional recipes to Brisbane, opening up a restaurant on Clarence Street earlier this year.
The dishes at Betawi are prepared by local Indonesian chefs, which means your mouth will get to take a mini trip overseas.
A heartwarming dish to look out for is the Soto Betawi, a traditional soup cooked in a delicious coconut milk broth and accompanied by diced beef, vegetables, and rice. More popular meals include their signature nasi goreng, chicken skewers served with peanut sauce, and a crispy marinated whole fish.
For dessert, the Martabak Manis is a must-try, which is a sweet pancake filled with peanut, chocolate and cheese. What a combo!
You can book at a table at Betawi here.
