Lush Roma Street Parkland is the perfect spot to enjoy the cooling weather and the changing of the seasons. As the weather cools and the change of season arrives, it’s the perfect time to explore the outdoors and, best of all, get up close with those helpful fuzzy critters: bees!
On April 13, take flight with “Behind the Buzz”, as apiarist Jack Stone from Bee One Third, a group of beekeepers on a mission to bring bees and pollinators back into your neighbourhood, expertly guides anyone looking to explore the gorgeous urban oasis and play the role of beekeeper for a day. It will be an immersive and educational experience exploring the vital role these incredible creatures play in our ecosystem, while safely getting hands-on with the art of beekeeping.
As Jack explains, “Bees play such an important role in our ecosystem and the more people who learn and understand this the better. I’m thrilled to share my knowledge and experience with Brisbane locals in such a beautiful inner city setting.
“We at Bee One Third are dedicated to sustainable beekeeping and educating the community about
the essential work bees do.”
The adventure will end on a sweet note… the honey at the end of the tour!
If getting that close to bees sounds abzzzurd to you, there will be another, more serene, one-of-a-kind experience on Sunday, May 4 where you’ll create your own beeswax wraps, beeswax candles and other eco-friendly treasures to take home! If that didn’t already sound straight out of a cosy game, while you craft, you can enjoy a relaxing tea or coffee, making it the perfect time to connect with others and unwind in the idyllic parkland setting.
