Gins on the bus goes round and round, round and round.
Of all the things we didn’t know we wanted or needed in our lives until we had them, this double-decker gin bus is pretty high up on our list.
Even though it isn’t ours so to speak (we wish, but it belongs to popular West End distillers Brisbane Distillery and home to the gin school), the bus will be doing laps around the city and parking up at some of our favourite spots. So, yeah, we’re pretty excited about it—just take a look, she’s a beaut.
The double-decker Leyland 1971 Atlantean Provenance has been stripped, rebuilt and aptly named The True Spirit. While upstairs can seat up to 25 people and has a pop-up roof for extra space, downstairs contains a tasting room and full cocktail bar. With that comes the ability to serve up to 150 people if outdoor seating is set up.
On Sundays, The True Spirit will be parked up at Riverside Markets in the City Botanic Gardens providing Gin Tastings as well as handcrafted cocktail flights. Sittings last for only 30 minutes, but in that time you will be served one of two cocktail flights (24.99), with each flight containing three handcrafted cocktails. Downstairs, the crew will be serving up free tastings of their Game of Eucalyptus Gin, Queensland Dry Gin as well as their Brown Snake Rhum.
The True Spirit will also be popping up at other markets around town, but it will also turn up to wherever it is invited. So, if you’ve got an event, party or celebration where a double-decker gin bus kitted out will a complete cocktail bar would fit right in, then get in touch with Brisbane Distillery to make magic happen.
To be kept in the loop as to where The True Spirit will be parking and serving drinks, stay tuned to Brisbane Distillery’s Instagram.
